Water Droplets

So at some point everyone who dabbles in photography will try out water droplet photography. Its easy enough to do and can produce some really interesting results. I gave it a go myself using a simple transparent box and a lamp to get the perfect lighting. Most people use an off camera flash but since I cant really afford one I used a high powered lamp to illuminate the water.

After a while of experimenting with droplets of water I thought it needed a bit more interest in the shape and size of the droplets, so I started dropping a coin in the water, which gave a nice shape to the splashes.

I then played with colors in Photoshop to give a nice blue to the water, seeing as the water is transparent its really easy to make the colors any shade and as vivid as you want. This was just my attempt, but if you search around you can find some truly incredible shots, for example the work of Kev Lewis is truly inspiring.
